I never anticipated the development time to be this long, and it's mostly because I had very little experience on writing. Writing takes a lot of time it turns out, even though it's just words. The long dev is result of poor planning and inexperience in writing.
I'll answer here few abbreviated questions and comments.
I can't believe MD is dead.
I know I'm a man of few words but you can engage with me daily if you sign into the Picarto chat channel. I also sometimes post snippets from the unfinished content into the chat. I don't like creating static statements like blog posts or twitter twats.
Just release it as it is.
The difference between 92% done update and 100% done update is quite staggering from gameplay perspective, because broken scripting can result player being unable to access most of the content, poor or haphazard scenes can also completely deflate any enjoyment you might get from them.
Are you really working on it?
Yes, I've dedicated most of my free time to V2, and not completing it in time has caused me considerable anxiety, and I have been working on it, possibly more than I should have. I need to create a better update cycle for the game so I won't burn myself, and that will happen after V2.
How big is V2 anyway?
V2 is currently same size as the base game in terms of words (100k), it was never meant to be this large, but initial planning and work set me up for large amount of work and downsizing it is very hard in terms of development. I have pressed on and completed the necessary work however.
Why no teasers or sneak peeks?
I have no reasonable answer to this. I do give very small and confusing spoilers on the picarto chat, but I don't give real sneak peeks. I don't give them because keeping the content as a mystery is a thing I want. The players discovering the unseen content in its fullest at release is one pleasure I don't want to give up. It's a major motivator for working on the game for me and relinquishing it would impact my dev motivation. It's a silly reason but there it is.

Good to know you're alive and you're still working on it. However, you ought to switch to monthly smaller content updates, because people won't feel like support you on Patreon (your main goal is to put all your attention to development after reaching 1400 dollars) when they feel their money is being wasted, there is nothing to wait for and they have nothing in an exchange monthly. For time being you ought to post progress updates regurarly on the twitter account. The last one was on 10th of August. Good luck!

I cannot draw even a stick-man but yesterday I added new scenarios to niird, poh-ack, cuoxur beasts and non-violent solutions, so you will be able to lure and tame them instead of fight. For the cave-monster, yep you can persuade him to leave the worm-thingy alone. Also I started to add some weight to battles, if you loose you will loose money and items as well...

DeleteHey Lev. I'm pretty much always on the stream chat when I'm not sleeping. The game is in it's final phases, the game was already sent to the sound guy and he played the whole thing through while adding the sound effects and scripting for them. I've received the version with sounds and I'm currently putting in the sketch art and last pieces of missing text. I would give you a very optimistic release date but you already know how I'm with dates.

DeleteIt sounds the update is more or less done. I'm interested what kind of sounds were added. I hope it will be released this month. However, for the future I highly recommand much smaller, but frequent updates, because I'm not sure if people would be willing waiting that long again. Constant communication does miraces to such project, so don't forget posting development progress on twitter account due to the fact people may not be able to catch you on Picarto channel.
I'm not currently doing any streaming but I will start normal streaming again once the V2 is out. The plan is to make the updates smaller in the future.
